Audre Lorde was an American poet, essayist, feminist, professor, and activist. Lorde's works of poetry and prose explore the struggle of populations of people on the fringes. This includes, but isn't limited to, women in patriarchal societies, people of color in white supremacist societies, LGBTQ+ folk in heteronormative societies, and poor people in capitalistic systems. Lorde's work was of the times then, and is of the times now.
