Sister Outsider is a collection of essays and speeches by Audre Lorde. Sister Outsider showcases Lorde's breadth and depth of thought on issues of racism, sexism, blackness, and femininity. Throughout the book, Lorde takes on many forms: critic, academic, poet, philosopher. However, at the core of every essay and speech, she brings her black, woman, lesbian identity into play. She does not do this to educate those who cannot comprehend her identity or do not accept her existence, but rather to lay out the potential for healing and living that exist for those like her.
